The Columbia Heights Day Dog Show
Forty dogs (and their humans) participated in our first ever Columbia Heights Day Dog Show on June 16.
Our judges -- John Henderson of Green Spaces for DC, ANC 1A06 Commissioner Angelica Castanon and YaVonne Boyd of the Community Wellness Alliance -- had a tough time selecting the winners from a fury and formidable field.
We think everyone who came out for the show was a winner. Special thanks to our judges, the volunteers who helped register the contestants and take pictures, and to the many businesses who donated prizes: Patrick’s Pet Care, Lou’s City Bar, Bar Roubaix, Good Silver, Meridian Pint, 13th Street Market, Petco, District Dogs, Maple, Annie’s Ace Hardware, Wonderland Ballroom, Odd Provisions, DC Reynolds and Redrocks.
The event was such a success that we plan on making this an annual event.
And the winners are...
Best Dressed
Best Trick
Best Tail wagging
Most Distinguished
Best Kisser
Best Ears
Most Mysterious mutt
Best Owner/dog look-alike
We think our photographer for the day, Mary, did a great job with these pictures. If you would like a large print (up to 18" x 24" in size), please email us at 11thandbark@gmail.com. All proceeds from those prints will go toward renovating the dog park.
